Past Projects

The Community Economy Kitchen opened in May of 2009 and is operating 6 days a week feeding almost 200 people everyday who live in the poorest neighborhood in Bavaro called, “The Hole”.  The kitchen offers healthy, inexpensive food in a country that has witnessed an economic recession that has doubled food prices in the last year.  The menu offers rice and beans, chicken, and salad for $1-$2.  The kitchen also stocks discount groceries to be purchased.  The kitchen offers a sense of community where they can feel welcomed and valued by people from the church.

Kids Church

Once a helicopter hanger, this structure was transformed into a building that not only provides space for kids to meet for their children’s program on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, but classrooms were created for adults to meet for computer classes and adult Bible studies during the week.  Many of the work teams have added fresh coats of paint and Biblical murals on the inside walls.

Medical Clinic

Many people in Bavaro area do not have any access to Medical care.  The clinic provides a certified doctor who is available to help with minor health issues and injuries.  2nd Mile Missions provided many medical supplies and medication when the clinic opened.

Missionary Center

Construction was finished in 2009 on the “Missionary Center” although we have named it just plainly, “the dorms” as well.  This air-conditioned building sleeps 14 and is equipped with a full kitchen for mission teams to prepare and eat meals.  It is located on the church property which proves to be a great place to stay for the week and develop amazing friendships in a short time!
